Revolutionary Radiation Therapy Now at Southwest General!
University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center at Southwest General is pleased to offer physicians and their patients the TomoTherapy® Hi-Art® treatment system beginning April 1, 2010.
This revolutionary technology for image-guided and intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IG/IMRT), has changed the way clinicians see and treat cancer by providing:
- Daily 3D CT images to ensure the accuracy of treatment for every patient, every day™. The images allow for optimal patient positioning and analysis and modification of a patient’s treatment plan at any point during the treatment course.
- The most precise conformal radiotherapy available: TomoTherapy provides more beam angles and more precise beam modulation than any form of IMRT. Tens of thousands of narrow beamlets target the tumor and are individually-optimized to contribute to the total tumor dose. Plus, a helical (continuous 360 degree) delivery pattern provides IMRT from all angles around the patient for highly conformal therapy that minimizes exposure to surrounding healthy tissue.
Combined with the recognized expertise of its board-certified radiation oncologists, Southwest General now has the ability to literally run rings around cancer. For more information about radiation therapy at Southwest General, call 440-816-5050.
